Being a blogger does have it’s perks. Every now and again I get the chance to attend some really cool events, that most people wouldn’t even know of. It’s one of the best things about blogging, you get to meet other bloggers, journalists and loads of other people who write for a living while in a relaxed environment.
I was pleasantly surprised when I found out that the Fallon & Byrne cocktail party was on literally just as my last exam finished. I had a lucky streak during those exams, which resulted in me finishing my last exam a little bit early. I set of into town, making a few tweaks to my attire so I wouldn’t look too out of place.
When I arrived I was welcomed by some of the lovely staff, and it was recommended I start with a mojito considering the rare Irish sun had decided to come out. After a long and painful walk in the heat from Tara Street, it was certainly the best drink for cooling down. I then proceeded to scout around the room to see if I knew anyone else, low and behold I found some familiar faces in the form of Lily and Aoife.
I just had to try the Passion Fruit & Jalapeño Margarita – Jalapeño infused tequila, passion fruit, mint, lemon juice, served with crushed ice. It was fairly hot, but so good at the same time. I also tried the Pappy Honeysuckle – whiskey, elderflower liqueur, Sauvignon blanc, honey, apple juice, lemon juice and passion fruit syrup. It was sweet and alcoholic and easily tied in 1st place with the Jalapeño Margarita.
The best part is, these cocktails (€10 each) are tw0 for one all night on Mondays and Tuesdays! It’s a great location to go for drinks after work, sure you might as well extend your weekend to Monday and go out with a few cocktails!
